Just Another Manic Monday

Greetings, fellow Committee members, from the long-lost world of Susan-ville! I have been snowed under (and still am) with graduate school work but will try to get on board with this blog and pay attention to all of your witty comments. Happy Birthday (belated) Breezy! I did think of you and I hope you had a great time celebrating (by the looks of the pictures, you did!)Anyway, just a short blog to put in my two cents. Hope they count for something!Love y'all!

Breezy's Birthday

Y'all I am so pleased to have the privilege of posting the pictures from Breezy's birthday celebration! It was LEGENDARY.

Yes that is the infamously tied cherry stem in her hand.

Gotta have it

I'm curious. Which artists do you absolutely have to have every single CD that they make?

Here's my short list (for now, I'm sure I'll remember more later):
Sheryl Crow
Rascal Flatts
Anna Nalick (releasing album #2 this year)
Cyndi Thomson (supposedly releasing a WAY overdue album sometime soon)
Maroon 5
Kelly Clarkson
Marc Broussard

Jon & Kate plus 8

This show has me hooked. It comes on TLC on Monday nights. I love it! This couple had twin girls and then had sextuplets (3 girls, 3 boys). Never would I be able to handle that many children, but watching this family inspires me somehow. And the husband and wife seem like such a good couple. Also, I am very impressed with Kate's organizational skills. It's amazing seeing them manage this family. You should check it out if you get the chance.

Jury is still out.

No, the title of this post has nothing to do with my day and a half stint on jury duty. However, if you've never had jury duty experience, just remember for the future. It's really boring. Bring a good book to read or a Sudoku book for all you nerdy types like me. That's all I have to say on that.

I just started watching Heroes. All the way back at the beginning. I've only watched the first 2 eps, and I like so far. But here's the thing. I can't seem to get back into watching it. I've had disc 2 sitting in it's Netflix sleeve for over a week now. If you watch, what seems to be the general perception? Should I keep at it? I love Milo (or "meelo," ahem....cough) and Hayden. They're such cuties. Any word of advice would be great. Holli, is it one of your current likes???

Love Child??

Holli - I know you are watching American Idol. So here's a theory that I ran pass Breezy and she agreed that if it were possible (and we all have our opinions on that), this would be a good guess.

Movie to avoid

I rented Margot at the Wedding because I'd read such good reviews about it. Unlike Amy, I try to watch movies that get good reviews because I normally see what the reviewer liked about said movie. Anyway, this movie stars Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Jack Black. It had funny, quirky movie written all over it.

It was terrible! Actually painful to watch. It was about a strained relationship between two sisters, and they come together for one sister's wedding. In the review I read, Nicole Kidman was described as sarcastic and cynical, so I thought there would be moments where I might identify with her character since I, too, can be sarcastic and cynical at times. But, no, she was slightly deranged and just plain MEAN. I do not recommend this movie, especially if you are looking for something funny and uplifting. Boo, hiss!

Worried about the future...

I really am, y'all. Kids these days have no ability to think and reason. It's scary how little sophomores know these days. For example, we were working on figuring out meanings of words by using context clues in sentences. This activity was multiple choice, by the way. The majority of students did not know that maternal refers to mother. I was floored! I said, "Have you never heard of maternity clothes?? See the resemblance in the two words??" It was a classroom full of "Oooooohhhhhh! I get it now!" Seriously. The future of society will be in the hands of these children one day. Lord, help us.

Here's a simplification of everything I'm going through

You plus me is bad news
-- Sara Bareilles

Y'all, Sara Bareilles is AWESOME. Many thanks to Grace for letting me borrow her CD. She and Breezy had been telling me I'd like Sara but I was a bit skeptical because I'm not the biggest fan of "Love Song." But I am glad to be proven wrong. This girl is amazing. Amazing lyrics, unique melodies, harmonies, etc. Her record was produced by Eric Rosse who also produces for Anna Nalick, so of course I had to love it. Anyway, just letting the rest of you know to get on board with Sara - you'll love her.
